New Jersey tourism spending sets record in 2017

New Jersey tourism revenue rose 3 percent to a record $45.4 billion last year.

Secretary of State Tahesha Way said there also was a 3 percent increase in visitors to the state, at 101 million, the eight consecutive year for a gain in the number of tourists.

New Jersey’s tourism sector generated $38.7 billion of the state’s gross domestic product in 2017, representing 6.7 percent of the entire state economy. Eighteen of 21 counties saw an increase in tourism industry sales.

Jeff Vasser has been appointed acting executive director of the New Jersey Division of Travel and Tourism. He was previously executive director of the Central PA Convention & Visitors Bureau.
