Hiroshima, Japan — Governor Murphy, First Lady Murphy, and the New Jersey Delegation visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum to pay respects and offer prayers for the thousands of people who lost their lives during the World War II bombing of the city. Deputy Director of the Museum Masuhiro Hosoda led the delegation on a tour of the Peace Memorial Park and Museum, where the Governor and First Lady laid a wreath before the Cenotaph for the Victims of the Atomic Bomb to honor those who lost their lives. Governor Murphy spoke about the horrors of World War II and the untold numbers of civilians who were impacted, stating that it’s “our responsibility, today, to maintain peace in this fragile world. We must strengthen the bonds of trust and understanding between our nations, and every nation. And we must work together to build a world that is finally free from the horrors of war.”
