Zhubei City, Taiwan — New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy visited Hsinchu Biomedical Science Park in Taiwan during the Choose New Jersey Governor-led economic mission to East Asia where he celebrated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between life sciences trade associations BioNJ and Taiwan BIO.
“With this Memorandum of Understanding, we are opening a new line of communication between researchers and industry leaders working on the cutting edge of science and medicine both in Taiwan and in New Jersey,” said Governor Murphy. “By bringing together our brightest minds, we not only have the potential to unlock new discoveries, but we are going to create new economic opportunities for our families and workers.”
The MOU between the leading life sciences associations in New Jersey and Taiwan seeks to promote collaboration between the two organizations to support life sciences companies in both regions.
“Many companies throughout Taiwan and the U.S. and certainly in New Jersey have engaged in long and well-established strategic partnerships,” said Debbie Hart, President & CEO of BioNJ. “Alliances, such as the one between BioNJ and Taiwan BIO, are important in fostering new business opportunities and research collaborations. We look forward to bringing our members together to support the life sciences industry as a whole ― ultimately bringing new medical innovation to patients around the world.”
BioNJ is the life sciences trade association for New Jersey, representing for nearly 30 years close to 400 research-based life sciences organizations across the healthcare ecosystem from the largest biopharmaceutical companies to early stage start-ups.
“Synergies are expected to be maximized with this strengthening collaboration between Taiwan BIO and BioNJ,” said Chung-Hsiun Herb Wu, Ph. D., Chairman of Taiwan BIO. “Biomedical sectors of both United States and Taiwan would be benefited with this link, in turn, with the joint efforts from industry, academia, and government, the growth of economics and the enhancement of public health will certainly be facilitated.”
Taiwan BIO is a non-for-profit organization founded in 1989 by members from industry, academia, and officials in Taiwan.
