Quest Diagnostics to build flagship lab at ON3 campus

Quest Diagnostics Inc. announced Wednesday it will build a flagship laboratory at ON3, a 116-acre campus in Clifton and Nutley.

The 250,000-square-foot laboratory will be built on approximately 12 acres on the Clifton side of the former Hoffmann-La Roche site on Route 3, which spans Clifton and the Township of Nutley.

The laboratory will provide enhanced diagnostic information services to more than 40 million people throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware and the District of Columbia, the Secaucus-based provider of diagnostic information services said.

The Clifton laboratory will be the largest out of Quest’s 20 major laboratory facilities, it said, and will employ more than 1,100 workers.

It is slated to be complete by early 2021.

“Our new flagship laboratory will enable us to empower better health through a comprehensive testing menu, faster turnaround, and additional capacity to serve more patients and clients,” Steve Rusckowski, chairman, CEO and president, said. “Rooted in innovation, this new lab will also provide our employees with an inspiring workplace. This is a major commitment to our presence in New Jersey where we are headquartered, and it is good news for the health care providers and patients we serve.”

The site, which will be anchored by the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine at Seton Hall University, also has deals with Ralph Lauren and Modern Meadow.

“We are thrilled to welcome Quest Diagnostics to the ON3 campus,” Eugene Diaz, principal partner, Prism Capital Partners said. “There is a sense of excitement and possibility at ON3, which is fast becoming the most highly sought-after business address in New Jersey.”

Prism is the developer on the ON3 project.
